Do you ever do something that you don’t tell anyone else that you’re doing?  I don’t mean like murder or armed robbery, although maybe talking about those things isn’t the best idea either, but normal things like going on a date or having a job interview or whatever normal things people do.  I had two phone interviews this week for two very different positions.  Well, before I continue I did tell two people, but they had been helping me rework my cover letters and resume as I go through this job search process.  When I feel most desperate that I am going to be homeless, not even being able to get a job at target, I think about my friends that encourage me to keep on going and that I will get something awesome cause I deserve it.  I believe I deserve it.  I just need to convince other people that I deserve it too, you know?  I think (I know) I didn’t tell anyone because I hate that feeling you get when someone asks, “so what happened with that interview you had last week?”  Then you have to face the fact in front of other people that you didn’t get the job and what it is that you are doing wrong.  I am trying to boost my ego a bit, because like I got a really nice email from someone today that said my writing should be in McSweeney’s.  I LOL’d to myself, cause really?  But someone with a bigger ego would be like, ‘That’s right, motherfuckers.  I’ll be submitting my pieces to McSweeney’s all the time.”  I probably won’t talk to many people about what jobs I’m interviewing for, or pieces I am submitting to McSweeney’s (and I have and been rejected, but will try again, cause why not?), or even what dates I’m going on or not going on, cause that’s just me.  Maybe I just need an inspirational wall poster.
