the “good” daughter: an imaginary story of two twins, formerly titled i have too much time on my hands
sometimes i wonder if there really were two lindsays, or well maybe not two lindsays, but lindsay and her twin, for this story we’ll call her louise. louise was the nice twin, you know the one everyone looks up to, she was born two minutes before lindsay so she was the older one too, the one that was named after the great aunt that everyone loved, but died. lindsay was always getting into trouble, you know not quite as bad as drew barrymore as a child, but close, she was named after dina’s sorority sister (the one that had got pregnant her freshman year), and of course she wanted her ears pierced at three. anyway, as they got older louise wanted out of the acting biz and lindsay wanted more, but was desperate to keep louise in tow (she knew twins are marketable, hello: mary kate & ashley, tia & tamera). when louise refused to do anything after the parent trap, lindsay figured her career was finished. so one day lindsay and louise were playing by a cliff and lindsay “accidentally pushed” louise off the cliff, but louise was fast and grabbed lindsay at the same time and they both fell over and luckily were caught on a branch. dina heard the girls screaming and ran to the cliff to help her girls, she grabbed each girl with one hand and tried to pull them up, but she wasn’t strong enough. dina looked at the girls for what seemed like forever (probably a commercial break length really) and then let go of louise, she wasn’t stupid, lindsay was her meal ticket.
