My Favorite Books of 2013

The reading goal I had set for myself for this past year was 60 books and I ended up reading 61.

The best book I read this year was Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. I identified so hard with both main characters at certain points and just fell in love with Rainbow Rowell this year. I read Attachments and Fangirl this year too and can’t recommend her books enough to everyone. You haven’t read her yet? What are you waiting for? I am so looking forward to Landline.

Other faves that stuck with me (in no particular order):

  • Graphic Novel: Saga, Sweet Tooth, and Chew were all fun reads and I can’t wait for the next parts in all three of those series. March was also great.
  • YAs: The 5th Wave (the first in a series, but loved it), Meant to Be, Life As We Knew It, and Wonderstruck.
  • Fiction: Life After Life and Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore were both really memorable and I loved the writing and characters.
  • I read The Poisonwood Bible for my bookclub and next to Eleanor and Park this was my favorite book I read this year. It made me want to write an epic saga. I want to have scones with Oprah and just chat about this book on a sunny afternoon.
  • Relish and Orange is the New Black were two memoirs that I really got into.
  • I felt gross reading Tampa.
